Welcome to Currents
Welcome to the inaugural edition of Currents: the Anusara Yoga® newsletter! We will be sending you an issue ev ery month to keep you connected to the kula. The name “Currents” was chosen as a multi-faceted reflection of Anusara Yoga. It’s designed to keep us all
up to date on current Anusara® news and events. Secondly, it echoes the verse 14.38 from Kulanarva Tantra which states: “Shaktipata-anusarena shishyo’nugraham arhati,” meaning "By stepping into the current of Divine Grace, the true seeker becomes ready and able, empowered by Grace to accomplish her or his own greatness.” This scriptural passage is the source of the name of Anusara Yoga. And lastly, because it comes to you carried by an electronic current, we can get the latest news to you in a timely and environmentally responsible way – no paper, ink, or greenhouse emissions.
Inside each issue will be some words from John Friend, a Teacher Spotlight, the “Pose of the Month,” and more. To celebrate our community, we will highlight a city or kula each month, telling you about the teachers, events, and studios in the area. Woven throughout will be photos from workshops and events worldwide, and inspiration from Anusara yogis gathered from all over the globe.
It is our intention that Currents will keep us better connected and inspired as a community. Input from everyone is welcome. Each month’s issue will center around a heart-oriented theme, just like an Anusara Yoga class. Let us know what you’d like to see in this newsletter - the more input we have from the community, the more radiant the publication will be. Which poses would you like to see broken down by our certified teachers? Are you a poet? Have you traveled to other places and met up with some rocking Anusara yogis? Tell us your favorite Anusara story. Do you have a photo of a wild pose in a wild place? Where’s the best place to practice Anusara Yoga in your city? Please send your musings, photos, and information to . May’s theme is “Abundance: the Bountiful Nature of Shri”…
Blessings,
