Welcome to Currents

Welcome to the Holiday issue of Currents, the Anusara Yoga® newsletter. There is a lot in this issue to help you expand your practice, as we explore the theme, "Breaking Through: The Transformative Power of Anusara Yoga." As 2007 draws to a close, we reflect on this past year to see where we had breakthroughs and look toward the future for opportunities to apply our revelations in transformative ways. Anusara Yoga has truly broken through in a global way this year, as John Friend rocked with Shakti in workshops in mainland China! You can catch up with his latest adventures and check out his schedule for 2008 in this issue.
Our teacher spotlight shines on Bridget Woods-Kramer of Cornwall, England. Bridget has brought Anusara Yoga into the mainstream of Great Britain, using her influence as a former leading force in Britain's fitness industry.
For the first time, our Pose of the Month, Visvamitrasana, is from the Level Two Syllabus. For those of you who haven't tried this pose before, there are plenty of preparatory poses to help you warm up and there are even some variations to challenge the more experienced yogis out there.
This issue features several products that may help inspire you to positively transform your practice and your life. From the Anusara Kula, we bring you the long-awaited Sri CD by Shantala, the talented duo of Benjy and Heather Wertheimer. We are proud to introduce socially and globally responsible Anusara Yoga notebooks from Nepal, giving you, your friends, and loved ones a place to reflect on your yoga journey. For teachers, John Friend's new 10-DVD set, The Basics of Anusara Yoga Teacher Training, can help refine and expand the skills needed to bring transformation alive for your students.
We visit the Arizona Merry Band in this issue and see how Anusara Yoga has blossomed in that state over the past ten years. Arizona is the home of the first all Anusara Yoga conference in January 2008. What a historic event!
We hope you enjoy this issue, and that the Shakti pulsing through the heart of this vibrant community shines through on every page. Thanks so much to all who helped contribute to this month's Currents.
Blessings,
